Civic Legal proud to support the Camp Kulin Corrigin Reach Program

26 May 2017

Civic Legal is delighted to announce that it has increased its support for Camp Kulin by becoming a Silver Sponsor of its Corrigin Reach Program.

Camp Kulin is a nationally-recognised program which helps children to develop life skills such as leadership, respect, trust and self-confidence.  Its Reach program provides one-on-one and small group mentoring, as well as before and after school activities, classroom support, weekend activities, teacher support and links to essential services for students in kindergarten to Year 10.

Corrigin District High School was the pilot school for the Reach Program, and has proved highly successful with teachers and parents noting a huge positive change in the students participating.

“Camp Kulin greatly supports the mental health of many of our students and their families with the Reach Program. There is no other service that can offer this level of support, and Camp Kulin has become embedded into our school culture,” Corrigin District High School Principal Heather Prance said.

“Therefore we are extremely grateful for the support from Civic Legal to ensure this much-needed program is able to stay in our school.”

“The recent funding announcement from Civic Legal means the program will be able to continue, providing essential support to students and staff” says Tanya Dupagne, Manager of Camp Kulin.

The 12 month pilot program was funded by support from the Shire of Corrigin, community organisations and fundraising. Civic Legal is the first official corporate sponsor of the program.

Civic Legal staff had supported Camp Kulin previously, with the firm matching donations of staff to sponsor children affected by trauma and torture situations to attend a school holiday camp over Christmas.

“It is a highly effective and worthwhile program, so this year we wanted to increase our support,” said Anthony Quahe, Managing Principal of Civic Legal. “Sponsoring the Corrigin Reach Program felt like a natural extension of the engagement that we already have with a number of communities in regional WA.”
